Andrew Garfield Has The Best Response To 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' Rumours

Why didn’t we ever get a third Garfield Spider-Man film?

It’s well known that if you're an actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and someone asks if you’re making a comeback or cameo, you have to follow the three simple rules: deny, deny, deny.

Sir Patrick Stewart denied that he would be returning as Professor Charles Xavier, even after he was both seen and heard in the trailer for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. Deadpool actor, Ryan Reynolds, both teased and denied his involvement in the MCU. Finally, completing the trilogy of mutants who are disputing a resurgence, was Halle Berry, who showed off her cropped silver bob that looked suspiciously like Storm’s.

We had the chance to get some exclusive time with the most recent cinematic Spider-Man, Tom Holland. Check out our interview below for his thoughts on Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This has led many fans to distrust actors when they talk about returning to their superhero roles. Yet despite everyone involved keeping quiet on the topic, fans have always wondered why Andrew Garfield never got to be the star in the same number of Spider-Man films as the rest. While Garfield appeared in just two The Amazing Spider-Man movies, the other Spidey actors, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland, played the wall-crawler across a trilogy of films.

In December fans started a petition to see Garfield return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Soon afterwards an insider leaked that Sony was considering the project. In January, Garfield himself admitted he was definitely up for another movie, and this was all before current Spider-Man, Holland, gave the reunion his blessing. If reports are to be believed, everyone and their mum wants to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3. But will it actually happen?

Despite being twice nominated for the best actor Academy Award, Garfield is known as a terrible liar. His return as the web-swinging superhero was leaked to the public when he failed to dupe a delivery guy as to his identity. It’s no wonder that when The Hollywood Reporter asked him about whether the final piece of his trilogy was in the works he responded:

“No update from me. No one is going to believe anything I say ever again. That’s my problem.”

So The Amazing Spider-Man 3 might be in the works, but I wouldn’t count your radioactive spiders before they bite.
