A new Spyro game is finally on the horizon

It looks like a new Spyro game may be in the works at Toys For Bob.

This is exciting news. When I think back to my childhood, there are three characters that really stand-out: Crash, Croc, and Spyro. While my guy Croc may have unjustly disappeared into the abyss, Crash and Spyro are still thriving like the nostalgic icons they are.

There are plenty of similarities between the two franchises. In recent years, both series have had their original trilogies remade but whilst Crash has since gone on to receive Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, poor Spyro has been left to sit on the sidelines. That could soon change though because it appears as if a new Spyro game is in the works at Toys For Bob.

Speaking of nostalgia, GoldenEye 007 will soon join Xbox Game Pass.

As reported by Insider Gaming, Toys For Bob made the subtle hint over on Twitter. The developer wrote, “Big moves and BIG MOOD for 2023 #LifeatTFB,” accompanied by a collage of images. What’s really caught people’s attention though is the inclusion of Spyro in the top left-hand corner, accompanied by a 25th logo.

The original Spyro The Dragon was released on the PlayStation back in 1998. Rather unsurprisingly then, the 25th of course refers to the fact that this year, 2023, marks 25 years of Spyro. I can’t think of a better time to release a new Spyro game - particularly after the Reignited Trilogy proved to be so popular.

We know that Toys For Bob are also working on Crash Team Rumble, a multiplayer spin-off of the series. The game was announced at last year’s Game Awards. Seeing Crash Bandicoot descend from the ceiling onto the stage in the middle of the night was an experience. It’s not a stretch to imagine though that another team within Toys For Bob could be working on the new Spyro instalment. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
