If you’re yet to play Battlefield 6, then you’re going to want to make note of this upcoming opportunity.

From tomorrow, 2025’s best first-person shooter is going free-to-play for a limited time.

Yes, you can enjoy Battlefield 6 for free from 17 to 24 March, giving you plenty of time to get a feel for what the game has to offer.

Access to the free trial will be via Battlefield REDSEC, Battlefield 6’s already free-to-play spin-off.

Pick From Three Playlists During Battlefield 6’s Free Play Period

During the dates above, you’ll notice the option to dive into four of Battlefield 6’s maps across three playlists.

If you’re new to the world of Battlefield or even first-person shooters, you might want to take a look at the Casual Breakthrough playlist.

This offers “a more relaxed way” to sample Battlefield 6, according to a press release, “while still earning progression and completing challenges”.

It comprises smaller player teams with 16 real players and 32 bot teammates/enemies, taking place across three map options: Hagental Base, Contaminated, and Eastwood.

Alternatively, there’s Nightfall which features Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, and Domination.

In this playlist, “the lights are out and the hunt is on”, as squads use night vision to navigate. This is set within the new Hagental Base map.

Finally, the free play period introduces the All-Out Warfare Playlist.

This features fan-favourite mode Conquest, as well as Breakthrough and Escalation.

You should pick this one if you want the most possible choice of maps as there are four options included here.

All-Out Warfare includes two maps from Season 2, Contaminated and Hagental Base, as well as two from Season 1, Eastwood and Mirak Valley.

Battlefield 6 marked a major comeback for the behemoth FPS franchise which faded from favour following the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042.

The 2025 release secured a respectable score of 83 on MetaCritic and went on to become one of the best-selling games of the year.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t been enough to protect the team as EA recently announced layoffs across Battlefield 6’s various studios.

Here at GAMINGbible, we awarded a score of eight, writing, “It’s the multiplayer that remains as Battlefield 6’s greatest strength, as it always has for this series.

“Well-designed maps and strong teamplay features make for interesting online rounds.

“This bleeds out into other aspects of the game; the gunplay, the weapon customisation, and the destruction mechanics.

“It’s punchy, direct, and exciting. It all feels carefully tuned to how players have wanted the game to be like since the golden era of the series.”

Make sure you don’t miss out on your opportunity to try it free this week across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
