One of 2025’s biggest AAA releases is available to play for free, but only for a limited time.
This year has been stacked with fantastic video game releases, perhaps so many that it’s difficult to keep up with them all, not to mention that it can get very expensive if we want to play all of 2025’s best games.
BetweenClair Obscur: Expedition 33, Silent Hill f and Hollow Knight: Silksong, we’ve certainly been spoiled for choice. There are a ton of games that I could mention, but I won't turn this article into a listicle.
While the game that is the highlight of this article is no Game of the Year contender, that’s not to say it’s not a blast, because it most certainly is. Almost, quite literally. That game is Battlefield 6, a release labelled by GAMINGbible’s Olly as “this year’s killer FPS” in his review.
Battlefield 6 Returns in a Big Way
In 2021, Battlefield 2042 was released, and it should have been a big moment for the series. Sadly, it was missing loads of basic multiplayer features, such as being able to remain in a lobby with friends after a match had finished, online rankings, class customisation, and more.

Granted, all those features and more were added at a later date, but when thrown in with uninspired maps, bugs, and no single-player campaign, the damage for Battlefield 2042 was already long done.
So when Battlefield 6 arrived this year, a lot was riding on the game to get the series back on track. While not a perfect game (that would be a big ask for any release), Battlefield 6 is a blast whether you want to play its returning single-player campaign or its action-packed multiplayer.
If you wanted to check out Battlefield 6, more specifically its multiplayer, today is your lucky day. Battlefield 6 multiplayer is free-to-play from now until Tuesday 2 December 2025.

As it's the multiplayer mode and your stats are tracked online via the EA servers, should you decide to buy Battlefield 6, your progress will carry over into the full game.
The free trial is available across all platforms, and if you do buy the game, you might be pleased to know that Battlefield 6 currently has a 15% discount across the board.
Battlefield 6 is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
