IO Interactive has released a Free Starter Pack for 007 First Light across all platforms, allowing players to check out a small slice of the game for free.
Just as the developer had done with Hitman: World of Assassination, a new free starter pack for 007 First Light allows players to play through the entirety of the game’s first mission.
The mission, which lasts somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes, serves as a good introduction to the game’s different gameplay mechanics like stealth, action, and exploration.
If you end up enjoying the prologue, you then have the option to purchase it and continue from where you left off.

007 First Light's free opener is a fantastic way to experience this banger

Set in Iceland prior to Bond joining MI6, 007 First Light’s first mission shows the character’s origins as he survives an ambush and subsequently thwarts an enemy faction from retrieving an MI6 asset.
This section of the game isn’t too long, but does serve as an excellent introduction to the stealth and action gameplay that is featured throughout the whole game.
The Free Starter Pack is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S, and will be available for PlayStation 5 next week. For PS5 gamers who are eager to check the game out though, you can play the first hour of 007 First Light on PlayStation Plus Premium via a free trial.
Progress made in either the Free Starter Pack or PlayStation Plus Premium trial will be kept if you decide to purchase the full game, giving you the opportunity to pick up your progress when you decide to.
Meanwhile, 007 First Light is also available at a discounted price across each major storefront. The game is currently 40% on PC via Steam until November 9, with the same discount on Xbox Series X/S until November 15. On the other hand, PlayStation 5 owners can pick up the game with a 50% discount until November 30.
In our 007 First Light review from earlier this year, we scored the game 9/10 and called it “the game that finally gets Bond right”. It’s become one of this year’s best reviewed games, attaining a 97% recommendation on OpenCritic and selling over 4 million copies.
In the months since release, it has received a few free updates for players to tuck into, primarily in the form of new missions in the bonus TacSim mode. An upcoming DLC called Bawma Returns is also in development, which features Lenny Kravitz returning as Bawma for a new story expansion.
