As more and more Pokémon games take us through an ever-increasing number of generations, there are ever more 'mons to keep up with and understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Whilst not all of the Pokémon who have appeared in the games have made their way over to the anime, that is not the case in the reverse direction, with all of the cartoon's creatures playable in at least one of the games from the last three decades.
Now you might say that's obviously going to be the case, as the games are almost always where new Pokémon debut, but there is one exception to the rule that appeared once in the cartoon, but is yet to make it's debut on Nintendo consoles, and fans aren't happy about it.
Over on Reddit, one player shared some screenshots from The Crystal Onix episode of Pokémon XY and expressed their disbelief that the unique creature is yet to feature in any game.

All of the responses were quick to agree with the OP, with many shocked that it's yet to appear in any form. "To think that even Pokemon GO -- a game that allowed Armored Mewtwo to become a thing with adjusted stats -- didn't utilise Crystal Onix as a thing," one said.
"Back in the day I always thought they should’ve done a Crystal Onix in the games the same way Johto gives you the shiny Gyarados encounter," another added.
A third shared a fairly compelling theory for why Crystal Onix may not have been included in the games, saying, "Crystal Onix was definitely their first attempt at "alternate" pokemon. but they didn't know where to go with it, so they never revisited the idea until Regional forms came around. Similar to how the Nidorans are the first male/female Pokémon. but they probably didn't know how to proceed with that either (prob thought they had to make female & male distinct like that for all Pokémon).
That final comment is probably relatively close to the truth, with most of the game's only featuring Pokémon in their standard, and occasionally shiny, forms.

It remains one of the coolest Pokémon ever though, so we live in hope that it will pop up again somewhere. It also seems like a prime candidate for the TCG treatment, particularly with full art cards now being more prevalent, and it would look great in any of the newer rarities.
