I could not contain my excitement when my Nintendo Switch 2 recently arrived; opening the box, I felt just like a child on Christmas Day. I’ll admit though, my joy was accompanied by fear. You see, it can be daunting unpacking something you’ve just spent several hundreds pounds on. As you remove the protective bags and unfurl the relevant cords, reality strikes that this is a console you need to take care of as well as enjoy.

From the various experiments some have bravely carried out online, Nintendo’s latest hardware seems to be pretty sturdy. I wouldn’t go as far as saying indestructible, but it’s not going to fall apart easily. Even with that said though, you’re going to want to take a few precautions - and I’ve been testing out a couple of accessories from PowerA which I’m going to proclaim to be must-buy items.

The first is the PowerA Slim Case for Nintendo Switch 2 - Dark Heather Grey which is exactly what it sounds like, a slim hard case that’ll protect your device when it’s not docked. Every time I finish up with my Switch 2, I place it in here, zip it up, and I know that it’s not going to get scratched or even dusty wherever I set it down. The interior perfectly fits both the main screen and attached Joy-Cons and is perfectly moulded to support the device’s contours.

That’s not all, as there are also 10 slots to store your game cartridges, and a stand can be pulled up allowing you to play the Switch 2 in tabletop mode. Of course, the Switch 2 has a built-in stand for that very reason, but there’s something quite comforting in standing it within this case. If it falls, I know no damage will be done, plus when the stand isn’t being used, it doubles as a padded screen protector. Genius.

The case has a very high quality premium feel which is impressive because it’s incredibly reasonably priced at $19.99. I simply cannot fault it. The product is officially licensed and was rigorously tested in partnership with Nintendo, and it shows. What more could you ask for?

If you want to go the extra mile, the PowerA Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch 2 - 2pk is also well worth picking up. Again, this is an officially licensed product. The set includes two protectors, a microfibre cleaning cloth featuring Switch 2 branding, placement guides, dust removal stickers, and an applicator.

I’ll be honest, as handy as screen protestors are, I usually tend not to use them. Why? I’m awful at putting them on and I just can’t settle if there’s dust and air bubbles all over the place - said air bubbles usually being caused by dust and lint. This set from PowerA eradicated all of those problems. The instructions and application tools included made the whole process incredibly easy. It didn’t take long for me to perfectly apply the protector to the point where half the time, I forget it’s there.

Of course, I know my Switch 2 is safe within its case, but it’s nice to know that when I slide it into the dock, my screen has an added layer of protection against any scratches. The Switch 2 branding on the cleaning cloth is a nice touch too. Again, much like the case, the product has a premium feel. It doesn’t have a premium price tag though, costing you a very reasonable $12.99.

Even if you’re someone who’s Nintendo Switch 2 is unlikely to leave the comfort of your home, there’s heaps to gain from using PowerA’s Screen Protector - 2pk and Slim Case. For a grand total of $32.98, you can sleep easy knowing your device is protected from any knicks, scratches, or other easy accidents. These products are very reasonable, durable, and I feel very content knowing they’re adding an extra layer of protection to my new device.
