Zelda Meets Final Fantasy In Huge New Free Open-World RPG

This looks fun

RPG fans will want to check out this new free open-world RPG, especially if you love The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.

Both The Legend of Zelda and the Final Fantasy series are considered to be amongst the best that the RPG genre has to offer, and have each stood the test of time.

The Legend of Zelda made its debut on the NES in 1986, and from that moment forth, the beloved Nintendo series set the standard of both storytelling, combat and sense of adventure in its genre.

As for the Final Fantasy series, which made its debut not long after The Legend of Zelda in 1987, also on the NES, the Square Enix property is still going strong today with fans eagerly awaiting each new release.

However, as much as we adore The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, sometimes, it’s nice to try something different that’s offered in the RPG genre, especially if that game is free.

Well, as luck would have it, there is a new free RPG that you can download and play this week. The game in question is called Blue Protocol: Star Resonance. It’s developed by Shanghai Bokura Network Technology and published by A Plus.

“Blue Protocol: Star Resonance expands the Blue Protocol universe with a vibrant MMORPG experience,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam. “Create your own hero, team up for strategic raids, or simply relax and have fun with friends fishing, crafting, and endless exploration. Adventure awaits!”

After watching its trailer, it does look like Blue Protocol: Star Resonance has some promise, but with it being a free-to-play game, it might be safe to assume that it will have plenty of microtransaction enticements, but I could be wrong.

As well as having The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy vibes, its anime art style could make it ideal for fans who love Japanese animation.

“Good stuff! Definitely gonna try this out, the initial hype is still there. Hopefully, it’ll last over time and the grind won’t be too tedious,” said DacianGradaMusic in the comments section of its YouTube launch trailer.

“I can't believe after so many years this game will finally come out globally. I'm so happy, and I will be there at launch! Just a few days now,” replied KubalaLGT

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance isn't out just yet, but you won't have to wait long to check it out, because it releases this week on Thursday, 9 October.

What’s more, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance will also be available on the Epic Games Store, as well as on mobile via the Apple and Google Play stores.
