If your idea of a good time is a classic RPG then you’re in luck, my friend.
That’s precisely what The Blood Knight: Episode Dawn is, a brand new release shaped and inspired by the great classics of the genre.
Developed by SolemnGravity, The Blood Knight: Episode Dawn is a turn-based RPG where players will guide knight Zeno Trillion on an important quest.
I’ll be real with you, it’s not exactly outlined what it is that Zeno is attempting to achieve, but The Blood Knight: Episode Dawn sounds like a decent time nontheless.

As Zeno, players will traverse a gorgeous pixel art world that’ll instantly take you back to playing those early The Legend of Zelda titles.
That exploration will be broken up by the emergence of enemies in classic turn-based battles which’ll surely please Final Fantasy fans of yesteryear.
In a world where photorealistic, open-world RPGs are becoming the norm in the genre, it’s always nice to see a promising new release doing things the good old fashioned way.
“Defeat, Devour, and Forge. The Blood Knight is a turn-based JRPG inspired by the classics,” the synopsis reads.
“Guide Zeno Trillion, a boy who can turn objects into something more. Master unique skills and equipment, unleash Zeno's Critical Skills, and lead companions through a journey full of twists and turns.”
Within those turn-based battles, Zeno will be able to unleash a secondary effect which can “disrupt and overwhelm” enemies.
“Combined with his signature critical skills, you can manipulate the flow of battle and crush enemy ranks with devastating AoE abilities,” devs say.

There are also hidden treasures across the game’s world too. Would it be a true RPG if there weren’t?
It’s also noted that succeeding in battle will result in the player acquiring crafting materials which can be used to forge new equipment such as various weapon and armour types.
As with all classic RPGs, there are companions and allies to find who will assist you in battle; those companions have their own unique storylines which intertwine with Zeno’s.
The Blood Knight: Episode Dawn is due to land on PC in 2026, although an exact release date hasn’t yet been announced.
However, as with all good releases on Steam, a demo for the game is available to play now.
It’s brand-new so there’s no review consensus yet on this one, nor is there a runtime listed but it should grant you access to an early section of The Blood Knight: Episode Dawn so you can get a feel for its controls.
This demo has been launched in celebration of Steam Medieval Fest which, as you can likely guess, shines a spotlight on games set within or inspired by the medieval era.
The event runs until Monday 27 April.
Many of the demos highlighted will remain available after that date, but limited-time offers on full releases will expire, so it’s well worth having a browse of Steam today if you haven’t already.
