The Last Of Us fans lose it over new teaser

It's already peak

HBO’s The Last of Us is finally set to return for its second season this April, and it’s now been confirmed when we can expect the season premiere to air.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey’s Joel and Ellie will return to our screens on 13 April, kicking off the seven-episode season.

Season two will partly adapt The Last of Us Part II; I say partly as it’s being split across multiple seasons.

It’s currently unknown how showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have chosen to adapt the game’s dual perspective narrative.

Those who have played The Last of Us Part II will know that players spend the first half of the game with Ellie and the second half with new character Abby, who’s being brought to life by Kaitlyn Dever in the show.

I’m expecting HBO’s iteration to be slightly less definitively split, although I do sense a ton of Abby content is being held back for season three.

To our knowledge, Lev and Yara have not been cast, for example.

Whatever happens, I’m sure we’re in for another stellar season. Already, fans are hyped by the teaser posters that accompanied the announcement of the show’s premiere date.

ICYMI: Take a look at the trailer for season two of The Last of Us below.

Three posters were released ahead of the show’s return, one each for Joel, Ellie, and Abby.

“Every path has a price,” read the season’s tagline; and those of us who have played the game will know exactly what that's alluding to.

Ellie’s poster features Joel’s guitar, as the character clutches her trusty rifle and knife.

Abby appears to have a revolver in-hand, a firefly pendant acting as the key focus of her poster.

For Joel, it’s his broken watch, as the character carries what appears to be a sniper; I’m no firearms expert.

Interestingly, Joel is looking over his left shoulder while Ellie and Abby are both looking to the right.

I don’t want to delve into spoilers, but it’s an interesting difference.

“I’m so scared but so excited,” wrote Twitter use nadia_gfx.

“BELLA RAMSEY I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU ON MY SCREEN AGAIN,” added an enthusiastic GHTOIC.

I’m both a huge Abby fan and a huge Kaitlyn Dever fan, so I’m very excited for this season.

Let the countdown begin.
