The origins of Star Wars icon Jedi Master Yoda may have been confirmed in the canon, and we all probably missed it.
At this point, it’s difficult to keep track of what is or isn't considered to be Star Wars canon, especially when it comes to comic book adaptations, with consistent retcons.
One hot topic of discussion when it comes to what is or isn't official Star Wars lore is the origins of Jedi Master Yoda. To be honest, I take such speculation with a pinch of salt, but it’s always nice to speculate nevertheless.

In a video uploaded by the YouTube channel ‘Star Wars Explained’ (give that channel a sub, if you haven't already), the origin of Yoda was hinted at in the 2024 comic book, Mace Windu: The Glass Abyss.
As explained in the video, this is actually old lore, but made new again (kinda). The lore mentions N'Kata Del Gormo, a Hysalrian who is rumoured to be Yoda’s old master, who trained him as a Padawan in the ways of the Force before joining the Jedi Order on Coruscant
N'Kata Del Gorm was created in a fan contest and published as an honourable mention in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine #9 of October 1996.
Leland Chee, an employee of Lucasfilm in charge of the Holocron continuity database, confirmed that all of the aliens published in that Star Wars magazine series are considered to be part of Star Wars Legends, tales that are mostly considered to be non-canonical.

‘Star Wars Explained’ also mentions Yoda's speech pattern, compared to that of Yaddle. As we all know, Yoda speaks differently, but Yaddle speaks what is considered to be 'normal', which might suggest that Yoda’s lingo isn't a result of his species.
During an interview with Dave Filoni, the chief creative officer at Lucasfilm said that he was told by Frank Oz, a puppeteer who had worked on the original Star Wars movies, that Yoda speaks the way he does to honour his master.
Of course, this is all speculative as far as I’m aware, and to be honest, I hope the origins of Yoda are never outright confirmed, because I appreciate the mystery that has constantly shrouded the beloved Star Wars character.
You can watch the entire Star Wars saga right now on Disney Plus.
