Star Wars: The Acolyte return confirms major Darth Plagueis theory

Legends book is canonised

Star Wars: The Acolyte’s return has confirmed a major theory about Darth Plagueis, and it all makes sense to us now.

In case you missed it, Star Wars: The Acolyte has returned, albeit in book form.

Although the show’s reception can be described as lukewarm, the book aims to provide some closure on some plot threads the show couldn’t resolve.

Star Wars: The Acolyte Visual Guide features images and articles regarding the making of the controversial Disney Plus show, allowing us to get a better look at the wider intention for the series had it not been cancelled so soon.

One thing that the book seems to confirm is a fan theory regarding Darth Plagueis and his origins (thanks, The HoloFiles).

So, the mysterious planet featured in The Acolyte where Qimir hangs out on is unnamed in the show, and that’s still the case in the Visual Guide.

However, new clues suggest that the planet is Bal’demnic, which was featured in the Darth Plagueis novel by James Luceno, which is part of Legends (Star Wars’ classification for any expanded material made pre-Disney, that is no longer canon).

According to The Acolyte Visual Guide, “an intelligent reptilian species lives far from the islands, but Osha sees no trace of them.”

In Legends, Bal’demnic is home to a reptilian species called the Kon’me. It’s also the planet where Darth Plagueis killed his master Darth Tenebrous in Luceno’s novel.

Although still not confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm, it seems that this may be the basis for where The Acolyte Season 2 might have gone had the show not been cancelled.

It’s possible that more aspects of Luceno’s novel could have also been adapted for the show if it hadn’t been cancelled.

However, for now we’ll just have to wait and see if Star Wars ever decides to go back and explore this era of the saga again.
