Star Wars: Starfighter Gets Official First-Look

The hype is real

Star Wars: Starfighter gets its first official look, and we’re hyped.

It’s fair to say that over recent years, the Star Wars movie franchise hasn't been to the level that many fans would expect, and the same can be said for some Disney+ series.

The last movie to release in the franchise is Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, and to say that the movie was a bit pants would be an understatement.

Thankfully, at least, Disney+ series like Andor have been carrying the Star Wars franchise on the proverbial back. However, quality Star Wars productions of late have been too few and far between.

That being said, this is the Star Wars franchise we’re talking about, and if any franchise can get itself back on track, it’s the one set in a galaxy, far, far away.

One movie that will hopefully get the movie franchise on track is the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), and stars Ryan Gosling, Amy Adams, Matt Smith and Mia Goth. Oh, and Simon Bird from The Inbetweeners.

Not much is known about Star Wars: Starfighter at this time, but we do know that it’s a standalone movie and said to be set in a period yet to be explored in the franchise.

Vague details aside, the first on-set image has been released. The image in question features Ryan Gosling and Flynn Gray (who is rumoured to have a strong connection to the Force).

It looks like both of the actors are sitting on an X-34 landspeeder, the vehicle that a young Luke Skywalker drove in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

At the time of writing, Star Wars: Starfighter has a release date of 28 May 2027. As always, we’ll update you when we learn more regarding its plot details.
