Star Wars fans are dumbfounded that the Jedi weren’t corrupted sooner following the realisation they built their house on top of a Sith temple.
The stupidity of the Jedi is one of the driving points as to why The Empire came to power in the Star Wars universe, they were overconfident, overzealous and became far too political about their place in the galaxy.
Star Wars: The Acolyte may be over, but it won’t be forgotten, like our time with the cast below!
Jedi like Qui-Gon Jinn knew where the Order was heading in the wrong direction, and maybe if he’d survived the events of The Phantom Menace things would have turned out differently.

However it seems like the biggest mistake the Jedi ever made was back towards the beginning, like where they built their temple of Coruscant.
Turns out they built it on top of a Sith temple, and fans have been trying to figure out why ever since…
It’s been discussed heavily in several Reddit threads, like this one by a deleted user, who asked “Why the hell would the Jedi build their temple on top of an old Sith Temple of Coruscant? Surely they would suspect that would influence their senses?? Did the Jedi just have poor urban planning and architecture skills?”
While an official answer has never been shared in the Star Wars canon, the Legends storylines have hinted at it being an intentional decision to prevent others from falling to the temple’s influence.

Clearly this didn’t work out as several powerful Sith made their home in Coruscant right under the Jedi’s noses, but you can’t say they didn’t try to keep the Dark Side off their lawn.
In all likelihood the real reason why the Jedi temple was built where it was should be incredibly obvious, they probably got the land for a steal since the previous tenants were an evil space cult.
