Star Wars drops first teaser for sequel set directly after OG trilogy

Star Wars drops first teaser for sequel set directly after OG trilogy

We are so back (for real this time)

Star Wars is back. Ignore all those other times it was back, because this time it’s back for real.

As announced in a press release on Marvel’s website last night, the comic giant revealed some new details for Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku - Republic Under Siege.

The Acolyte may be finished but it won't be forgotten, so check out our interview with the cast below

To clarify this is a different story from The Battle of Jakku - Insurgency Rising, which is still set to drop in October. For those unaware, the entire Battle Of Jakku series is set directly after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

This isn’t some undefined period of time in between the original trilogy of films and Disney’s sequel trilogy, like much of Disney’s Star Wars TV shows have been set in, but it is instead set immediately after Return of the Jedi concludes.

This is following a recently concluded series of comics that was set in between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, which included the well-received title Star Wars: Darth Vader.

In the press release for the new series, Marvel promises that the new series will explain exactly what happened during the pivotal battle on Jakku that was first introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The series will be “Written by acclaimed, award-winning author Alex Segura (Star Wars: Poe Dameron – Free Fall, EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE) and drawn by a trio of superstar artistic talent—Leonard Kirk, Stefano Raffaele, and Jethro Morales”, according to the press release.

“Our story will be epic in scope”, said Alex Segura, “involving all the major characters you love, plus some new, exciting additions to the mythos.”

“We'll not only give readers a front-row seat to the final battle of the Galactic Civil War - we'll reframe the aftermath of the Battle of Endor and introduce a new, menacing threat that will keep our heroes guessing.”

There are some details regarding the new series in the press release, but those wanting to go in completely spoiler-free will want to wait until the 20th of November for the first issue to drop
