Star Wars' Andor Easter Egg Shocked Cast and it's Never Been More Relevant

The power of words are more relevant today than when the show first broadcast

Andor is widely regarded as not just one of the best Star Wars spin-off shows but also one of the best television shows of all time.

First airing back in 2022 on Disney+ before welcoming its second and final season in April of this year, Andor is one of the highest rated Star Wars projects and was met with widespread acclaim from critics and viewers alike.

Praised for its writing, performances, cinematography, production and darker, more mature scenes as opposed to previous Star Wars stories, Andor won five Emmy Awards earlier this year including Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

It is this writing that is still being talked about to this day and it is one moment in particular from season one that has found itself becoming particularly relevant in recent weeks.

Back in season one, titular character Cassion Andor teams up with a gang of rebels commanded by Vel Sartha.

It is here that he meets Nemik, a young revolutionary figure who unfortunately dies during a critical mission after being crushed to death by stolen Imperial credits.

However, he left behind a manifesto and as a result, his beliefs live on due to his faith in the power of the revolution.

It is not until episode five that Nemik’s manifesto is finally heard for the first time after it gets left to Andor himself.

"And then remember this: the Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural,” it begins.

“Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that.

And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance, will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try."

Over on r/StarWars, user RogueBromeliad had the following to say about such an important and politically relevant piece of writing:

“Nemik's speech about the constant and desperate need for control of tyranny because of its fragility is some of the most profound dialogues in such a small sequence.”

Nemik himself was played by actor Alex Lawther who is now starring in Disney+ Alien: Earth but he was still shocked to learn that his Andor manifesto was such a hit with fans.

Speaking to Polygon, Lawther revealed that he had “no idea” about its impact.

“Because of Tony's cleverness, I get to sort of live on in a way. But I wish I hadn't been killed by that trolley full of credits,” he added.

With the political climate in recent weeks hitting a fever pitch, this beautifully written manifesto is as relevant as ever so it is no surprise that it is resonating with fans both old and new.

It just goes to show the magic of incredible writing and the power of words as a whole in the media.
