Scrubs reboot moving ahead with old and new cast

Do we want more Scrubs?

A reboot for the hit 00s comedy series looks like it’s almost ready to go, there’s just those last minute details to work out.

Some of you might be too young to remember Scrubs, but for readers of a similar age to me, we remember J.D. and Turk’s antics well.

In fact, the whole cast was brilliant.

When the TV series finished in 2010, while a sad moment for fans, we appreciated that all good things must come to an end.

Ah, Scrubs, if you return please never change

Of course, it didn’t take long before murmurs of a reboot started to make their way online.

Those rumours have been around for such a long time, it’s always felt more like wishful thinking than a genuine possibility.

In an interview with Deadline, Scrubs creator, Bill Lawrence, discussed the reboot and whether it will go ahead or not.

Lawrence said, “I think it’s getting really close to being figured out, and I think in a good way. Big chunks of the creative team behind the camera, and most of it from in front of the camera, are all super invested and excited, so very close.”

If Scrubs returns though, fans are curious to know whether it’ll be a reboot in the sense that we’ll get a new cast, or whether it’ll see the old cast take on the role of these memorable characters once more.

For Lawrence, the only way forward is for a hybrid.

“We’ve been talking about a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo,” he explained. "A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot.”

He added, “But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine[...] So I think that, no matter what it is, it would be a giant mistake not to do as a combo of those two things.”

Thankfully, the OG cast have all agreed that they'd return if the series makes a comeback, so fans don’t need to worry about that.

As for who the new cast members will be, or even when the reboot will air, those details remain unclear.
