Pokémon fans are horrified to learn that the Master Ball failed on at least one occasion in quite a spectacular way.
The Master Ball, introduced in Generation I in the games Pokémon Blue and Red, is an item that is supposed to live up to its name.
When thrown at a Pokémon to capture, this rare and powerful ball Poké Ball, is a guaranteed catch, well, at least most of the time.

What’s more, the Master Ball is so powerful and rare that it should only be used to catch Pokémon worthy of its glory and absolutely should not be wasted on a Parasect.
However, there’s surely not a time when the Master Ball failed to live up to its only purpose, right? Well, it just so happens that the almighty Master Ball has failed after all.

“What are some funny Pokémon facts you know?” asked Redditor MasterOfChaos72, to which StreetReporter replied, “The Master Ball has made one appearance in the anime, and it failed.”
To elaborate further on this epic fail moment, Ero Sɘnnin, a user of the website, Anime & Manga Stack Exchange provided the all important added details.
“In Episode 35, ‘Whiscash and Ash’ of season seven of the Pokémon series, a Whiscash swallows a Master Ball thrown at it. This was widely interpreted as a Master Ball fail.”
That being said, the Master Ball is known to have failed in the Nintendo video game series, as explained by John D. “Also, the Master Ball will fail in the games if you try to catch a Pokémon that is owned by another trainer,” they said.
