If you’ve been waiting for Titanfall 3 to happen, it looks like the only way you’re getting that game is by watching Netflix’s new film.

The last time we got a Titanfall game was back in 2016; as if you needed reminding of the agonising wait we’ve all had to endure.

Since then, there’s been no solid news that a follow-up is happening. It seemed like a done deal given how well received the second game was, but EA has been extremely quiet about its plans for the franchise.

Fans have refused to give up on the dream; refusal that has, kind of, paid off.

Netflix’s upcoming film ATLAS is being dubbed the next Titanfall; “[The] new Netflix show is Titanfall in all but name,” declared a fan.

Someone else said, “Let’s be honest, the trailer screamed Titanfall knockoff.” Arguably, it’s the more cutting comment out of the two.

Not everyone is convinced the film is referencing the beloved FPS franchise, but those who are have already confirmed they’ll watch the movie.

“This most definitely is Titanfall! I'll watch it... I hope it's good!” read one post.

We’ve got to admit, the trailer does bear some remarkable similarities to Titanfall, regardless of whether you think it’s going to be a decent film or not.

Still, the idea that this is the only way to get the third game stings.

It’s been stinging for some time now, after an insider confirmed that Respawn is making a new game... Only it’s not Titanfall 3. We would like to get off this emotional rollercoaster now, please and thank you.

ATLAS will air on 24 May. Until then, all we have is the trailer to tide us over – that and our hope that it gives us the Titanfall fix we’re desperate for. It seems unlikely, but we live in hope.
