Titanfall Successor Pre-Launch Silence Prompts First Major Delay Fears of 2026

Where is it?

Our only successor to Titanfall and Titanfall 2 is missing, three weeks before it’s supposed to launch.

Highguard was announced at the very end of The Game Awards 2025 as the show’s grand finale reveal. It didn’t make a great first impression but that was mostly because Titanfall had been name-dropped in the build-up to the announcement so, as you’d expect, everyone was gearing themselves up for a Titanfall 3 reveal.

Now that the dust has settled, gamers are left with a big question: where actually is Highguard?

We’re in 2026 now and the game launches in about three weeks, but there hasn’t been a peep about it since. No new trailers, no active posting on the social media accounts. It’s as if the game has been cancelled at the last minute.

Of course, it’s highly unlikely that’s the case but there are now fears that it’s been delayed instead.

The developer’s silence has been matched by player silence too. Hardly anyone is really talking about it, which is a massive loss for the game as it’ll have likely spent a pretty penny to be the final announcement of The Game Awards.

Understandably, the game has seen comparisons to Concord, another multiplayer game that was treated as a major announcement but ultimately fizzled out into obscurity, getting shelved shortly after its release.

Now I don’t think the same will happen with Highguard. I think, at the time of writing, there’s little to no hype surrounding the game, and there’s a good chance of delay but when it does inevitably release, I think it’ll find its audience.

It's The Final Countdown To Launch

However, I don’t think it’ll see the same success that Titanfall, Titanfall 2 and Apex: Legends did, even with talent from all of those games being featured on the development team.

Only time will tell and with three weeks until the game’s launch date, we’ll find out soon enough but as it stands, things aren’t looking good. I’d be surprised if the game is still running after a year.

Why is there no hype for the game though? Even though most gamers would have undoubtedly preferred Titanfall 3, it feels strange that there’s not a more active audience for Highguard.

I think a lot of it comes down to oversaturation in the genre, and with other shooters like ARC Raiders providing more interesting gameplay with its proximity chat feature, online shooters are clearly finding it more and more difficult to hook and engage their audience.
