Marvel's new R-rated series brings back Daredevil and Kingpin

Not being held back

Marvel is set to bring back a mature rating to their TV shows with Echo, but that's not all they're bringing back.

The trailer for Echo dropped recently showing off a more mature and violent direction for the upcoming TV show. The trailer held nothing back by showing Echo fighting goons with full force, but we also got a glimpse of Daredevil, along with Kingpin beating seven shades out of a man.

Daredevil (and Kingpin) are back in the MCU

The Echo show will debut 10 January and it seems like Marvel is pivoting its content a little and moving away from the continuous mutliverse nonsense we've seen so much recently. Echo is a tough character who doesn't hold back - she was adopted by Kingpin, after all.

Fans are feeling positive given the new direction feels like a callback to the Netflix shows where Daredevil and Kingpin were debuted. It's designed to feel more brutal - this isn't a world for families as noted in the Echo trailer when a message pops up advising viewers to set their Disney+ accounts to "TV-MA to stream."

Echo is a deaf character with Native American roots who was first seen in Daredevil #9 in 1999, created by David Mack and Joe Quesada. Of course, Daredevil was a shoe-in for an appearance in the show given Echo's origins, but don't forget that Charlie Cox has his own show coming soon which will finally put Daredevil into the MCU spotlight.

According to sources the Echo show will feature a storyline in which Daredevil will be on the hunt for an old ally, rumoured to be Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter on the old Netflix shows. Hopefully Marvel doesn't push too much Daredevil through Echo and lets her hog the spotlight as she's a brilliant character with a complex past.
