The Wolverine’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a sight to behold, especially since it was Hugh Jackman who put the claws back on.

It’s clear there’ll be some sort of role for him in Avengers: Secret Wars, but we could see him return to the MCU in another way, through another film.

If you’ve been staying up to date with the latest Marvel news you might have seen Blade, the MCU reboot of the vampire-slaying superhero has been delayed indefinitely.

Set to star Mahershala Ali in the lead role, the film has been reworked several times, with new directors and scripts coming and going to delay the film’s shooting.

It’s now believed Marvel is shelving the project in favour of a Midnight Sons film instead, who are basically the Avengers but for supernatural threats to reality, a bit like Doctor Strange.

What does this have to do with Wolverine? Well in the comics Wolverine has been a member of the Midnight Sons, as has Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider and of course, Blade.

The team-up has already been teased in the post-credit scene of The Eternals, which sees Mahershala’s Blade seemingly recruit Kit Harington, who’ll likely go on to become Black Knight.

If Marvel wants to reintroduce Wolverine through the 616 universe, this would be a bold but cool way to get it done, after all Wolverine never has to be a member of the X-Men, he has his own life and adventures.

Obviously take this with a pinch of salt as we could see an entirely different roster make their live-action debut, but it’d be cool nonetheless.

The Midnight Sons are an awesome group of heroes, and hopefully if the live-action film is actually happening it’ll do them justice.
