Spider-Man: Miles Morales live-action movie confirmed

Miles Morales is headed to live action films in the future

We’ve finally got the news we’ve all been hoping and praying for: a Spider-Man Miles Morales film has been confirmed and it’s going to be live action.

The excitement is real. However, there’s a slight caveat to its release, in that two more animated films must first grace the silver screen before we see Miles Morales in all his live action glory. In truth, it’s a small price to pay.

Amy Pascal dropped the revelation on Twitter, and needless to say fans collectively got overexcited. Peppered in between all that excitement, however, was annoyance that fans have to wait at least two more films before we get the goods. Not that the animated films aren’t beloved, just it means that we’re not likely to see live action Morales until 2030, as one fan “joked”.

Then there’s the “poor animators” who have to keep recreating those spectacular visuals for the next two movies – not an easy feat, even for the talented animators at Sony. There’s then the question whether more multiverse shenanigans are necessary for Miles’ story, a question that quite a few Marvel fans asked when Pascal dropped her bombshell.

If you haven't checked out how amazing Miles Morales is in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 you need to change that

“‘Two more’? Why two? The way the story's going, it would make perfect sense to close it out in three. Across the Spider-Verse and Beyond the Spider-Verse are just two halves of the same film anyway.”

In the world of Spider-Man, though, anything can happen, as we’ve seen in the unfolding of Miles’ incredible story. When the very first film was announced, although fans were thrilled at the idea, some did wonder how it would work. But it didn’t just work, it succeeded all expectations.

To believe that the creators won’t continue to capture that magic is almost shameful.

Of course, shifting from animated to live action is going to be one hell of a journey, meaning it could be rough going before it reaches its peak. Whatever happens, though, we’re elated to hear that Miles is destined for live action adventures, as is his right as everyone’s friendly Spidey.
