Spider-Man 4's leaked title leads to heartbreaking theory I pray isn't true

It doesn't sound peaceful

The potential title for Spider-Man 4 has been leaked and it points to a few possibilities for our Marvel hero.

I say 'potential' as this is suggested to be a working title only but The Cosmic Circus report that Spider-Man 4 has entered production under the codename Oasis Blue.

This doesn't reveal all that much about the film as it's just a working title, but it has led to an interesting theory.

Among the possible storylines is Peter falling in love with Gwen Stacy and starting a love triangle with MJ, very loosely adapting the Spider-Man: Blue comic book - hence the link back to Oasis Blue.

If true, this would certainly see Peter grappling with some intense personal feelings.

Alongside this though, one very interesting theory is also gaining traction over on Reddit.

Before we get to Spider-Man, Marvel has to work through the rest of the slate including Thunderbolts*.

The idea goes that Spider-Man is pulled into a new dimension and world after everything is erased at the end of Avengers: DOOMSDAY.

Peter finds himself in a Truman Show-style world where he doesn’t retain any memories of the battle and the history of Doctor Doom.

It would show him living a happy life, just helping the neighbourhood, dealing with street-level issues.

However, in the background, this is all a simulation akin to WandaVision, but told from the side of a victim, rather than the conjurer of the world.

The idea goes into incredible detail of how Wilson Fisk could play a role, how the film could connect all the TV shows coming to Disney+, and still tell a Multiverse-type of story that Sony seem to want.

I can’t decide if this is a brilliant idea or one that would simply leave the audience feeling deflated and sad to see Spidey suffer when he has to inevitably give up this life and return to Earth-616.

On Reddit, Spiderlander read the theory and comments, “This an incredibly creative, and well thought out theory.”

Other users are pitching in with extra thoughts to flesh it all out, “You could make Kingpin the ruler on Manhattan working for Doctor Doom like the new Ultimate universe has Kingpin on the Maker's council.”

The idea of using Reed Richards as another mentor would also tick off a box for Sony who always want a crossover character, and it would fill the Iron Man hole surely to be felt.

Would it work in a comic? Yes, absolutely. As a film? Maybe not, as the general audience might not connect with this idea.

Great work though, even if the idea of Spidey being sad again breaks my heart.
