The role of Wolverine is a coveted one in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and despite many fans wanting Hugh Jackman to reprise the role until the end of time, it will only make sense to one day replace him with another willing actor.

It was way back in 2000 that Hugh Jackman first appeared as Logan/Wolverine in X-Men and since then, he has gone on to star in 10 movies across the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his most recent reprisal being in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, with Marvel now set to focus more on his adoptive daughter, X-23, it seems as though Jackman’s time as Wolverine may be up over the next few years.

That being said, fans are not ready to say goodbye to the character and have already been coming up with fancasts for Wolverine.

Not only that, but with one beloved actor recently meeting with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, fans are wondering if this could be our next Wolverine?

Best known for his roles in the Kingsman series and portraying Elton John in Rocketman, Welsh actor Taron Egerton is the recent actor to be rumoured to replace Jackman as Wolverine.

News of this meeting was posted to MarvelScoops over on Instagram and a discussion soon kicked off on r/Marvel.

“I think he could be a solid Wolverine,” one user said.

Another user agreed, adding, “I think Wolverine fits him best.”

However, it seems as though other fans would like to see Egerton in some other beloved Marvel roles.

“Nightcrawler,” one fan suggested.

“Kurt can be very charming, is athletic to the point of being acrobatic, he has a big personality at times, he is somewhat short, he does comedy relief quite well, etc.

Taron could crush it as Kurt if he can do a convincing slightly Central/Eastern European accent.

And he wouldn’t need to be in makeup the entire time, but yeah much of it. In the comics he has a holographic disguise thing, or did way back in the day.”

With other suggestions for Cyclops, Havoc, Captain Britain or Iceman, it seems as though Egerton has a bright future ahead of him if he does choose to enter the Marvel family.

Only time will tell.
