Avengers: Doomsday is in the midst of filming, ahead of its release on 18 December 2026.
Yes, in case you missed it, Doomsday has been delayed out of its original May 2026 slot and I’m very relieved that’s the case.
If filming is only just getting underway, there’s no way the visual effects would have been up to scratch by next May and let’s face it, Marvel has put out some pretty dodgy VFX in recent years.

Doctor Strange’s third eye, Axl’s message in Thor: Love and Thunder, the entirety of M.O.D.O.K’s design … I could go on.
Let’s hope Avengers: Doomsday doesn’t give us any new moments to add to that list.
So much about the film is being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that it’ll heavily feature the X-Men which makes a lot of sense considering that Doomsday and Secret Wars will, according to theories, see us transition from The Multiverse Saga into The Mutant Saga.
Plenty of X-Men have already been confirmed to appear in the film, including Channing Tatum’s Gambit, James Marsden’s Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Ian McKellen’s Magneto.

Set leaks have also revealed that the film will seemingly be partially set at X-Mansion and will feature a large battle with the Sentinels.
One figure who hasn’t been confirmed to appear in the film though is Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine which is somewhat surprising after the success of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wolverine’s inclusion was being kept under wraps, or if the character was being held back for Secret Wars.
There’s also the possibility of Dafne Keen surfacing with her version of the character, Laura or X-23.

Let’s not also forget though that this is the multiverse we’re talking about. Could a new Wolverine appear only for Doom to see them off, opening up a way for Jackman's iteration to re-enter the picture?
We’ve already seen Henry Cavill don the adamantium claws, but it’s not him that fans would like to see cameo this time around.
Reddit user FayyadhScrolling offered the suggestion of Milo Gibson, the son of Mel Gibson.
“I’ve said it for years Milo Gibson is just perfect as Logan. He just has that rugged / depth that this character needs,” added lieutjoe.

Aesthetically, I see it. I’ll be honest, I’m not all that familiar with Milo’s body of work which seems to be limited to a relatively small selection of thriller and action-based feature films.
I suppose that does mean he has the physicality for the role though. Only time will tell, however, what Avengers: Doomsday has in store.
