Another MCU star has confirmed they will be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday hasn’t confirmed the entire cast yet, but there are a few details coming out here and there to give us an idea of what the film will be like.

We know the film will include the Fantastic Four, who are debuting in The Fantastic Four: First Steps later this year.

The last time we saw the team together was in Avengers: Endgame (2019).

We also know Doomsday will bring back Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time starring as Victor Von Doom, an adversary of the Fantastic Four.

However, given that it’s an Avengers film, many other stars of the MCU are also expected to turn up even if they haven’t been publicly confirmed yet.

One MCU star has now confirmed they will be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently slated for a 2026 release, allowing us a better idea of which characters the film will focus on.

While promoting his film The Thing With Feathers at Sundance Film Festival, Business Insider asked actor Benedict Cumberbatch about a recent comment he made in another interview.

In an earlier interview with Variety, the actor supposedly let slip that he wouldn’t be appearing as Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel film.

“I got that wrong, I am in the next one,” Cumberbatch told BI when asked about his involvement with the next Avengers film, backtracking on his previous comments.

Interestingly, Cumberbatch also told Variety that Doctor Strange is in “a lot” of Avengers: Secret Wars, which is the follow-up to Doomsday coming in 2027.

The film is expected to kick off the next saga of the MCU and is based on the 'Secret Wars' run by Marvel Comics that ran from 1984-1985.

Both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Their previous Marvel credits include directing the last two Avengers films, as well as two Captain America pictures.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on 1st May, 2026, with Secret Wars following on 7th May, 2027.
