Marvel fans are bracing themselves, pondering who will be the new Black Panther in the upcoming third movie.

We know that no one is going to replace the late, great Chadwick Boseman as the original Black Panther in the MCU, T’Challa. Literally, out of respect for Boseman, Marvel Studios has confirmed that T’Challa won't be recast but that doesn't mean we won't get a new Black Panther.

So who will be the new Black Panther? It was teased in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever that T’Challa’s sister Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, could be the new protector of Wakanda, however, that’s probably not going to be the case.

In the 2018 movie, as good as Black Panther was, I think many of us would have agreed at the time that it felt like a mistake to kill Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger so early in the series because he would have made for a great redemption story to become Wakanda’s new protector.

I suppose with all the multiverse shenanigans in the MCU, it is possible to bring Michael B. Jordan’s character back in some form and if that was done well, I’d love to see it, but I won't be holding my breath.

So, again, I ask, who will be the next Black Panther? At this time, we can only speculate until Disney and Marvel release official details about the next movie.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently teased on Twitter that Black Panther 3 (not its official title) will be released in February 2028 which would land in Phase Seven of the MCU.

Naturally, this got fans gossiping. That being said, we should always take unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

“Very Nice. I will be there on opening weekend,” said ultra_orbs.

“LET’S GOOOO!!!!” yelled a hyped PrimeLightning1.

“Damm, after Avengers: Secret Wars. We're gonna get a new T'challa or is his son gonna play Black Panther?” questioned AceBurrito.

As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear official details regarding the production of Black Panther 3.
