With the next two Avengers films on the horizon, and Avengers: DOOMSDAY now shooting in London, fans are beginning to speculate whether our favourite heroes will live through the events of the film.

It wouldn’t be a Marvel event without a few deaths, and audience members are already wondering who will kick the bucket in the fight against Doctor Doom.

Will Thor get a hero's send-off and live happily ever after?

Literally anyone could die, and that’s what fans fear the most. As anticipation builds, so too does that fear, and discussion has begun on Reddit, with fans pleading that Thor survives the battle.

Reacting to the news that Chris Hemswoth wants to give Thor a proper send-off in “an epic way,” one fan says, “Please don’t take Thor, I beg you.”

“They shouldn’t kill him. They should just let him live out his life, either in a faraway universe or ruling New Asgard with Valkyrie. A death would be cheap,” says Paris_Lefrance.

There is hope that the Asgardian will survive, though, with many echoing one sentiment - “Sending them off doesn't mean dying.”

This is very true, and Captain America got a happy ending, why not Thor? Unless he has to sacrifice himself to save Loki, who could be an integral part of the plot, of course.

“There has to be one hero that lives on forever,” said one fan, hoping for a nice ending to Thor’s story.

You could argue that we don’t need another big death in the films, however, superhero comics are built on sacrifice - someone always has to die for the greater good.

Perhaps this will be Thor’s fate, but as a God, he may just live to fight another day.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens, to be sure.

For now, fans will keep pleading, like this one, who says, “My hope is that Thor finally finds Asgard a home not on Earth, and takes his proper place as King.”
