It’s perhaps an update many of us have been expecting to hear, but Thor 5 has reportedly entered development.
This tidbit of information comes from leaker DanielRPK, so I’d certainly encourage you to take it with a pinch of salt.
DanielRPK has a mixed track record and if I’m being honest, this particular nugget of news could be a likely stab in the dark more so than based on any substantial evidence.

According to the leak, Thor 5 will be a part of the MCU’s next saga, i.e. whatever is coming after The Multiverse Saga draws to a close with the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
The most prevalent fan theory is that the film will lead us into The Mutant Saga, but that’s just speculatory.
DanielRPK also added that Taika Waititi will not return to direct the film; again, that’s not a total shock.
Waititi transformed the Thor franchise for the better with Ragnarok, but Love and Thunder perhaps took the humour and farce a tad too far.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun movie but it perhaps learnt the wrong lessons from its predecessor’s success.
I think it’s fun to bring in new directors anyway.
Kenneth Branagh brought us a stoic Thor, while Taika Waititi stripped all seriousness away, resulting in a far more frivolous and light-hearted take on the character.
What might come next? A balance of the two? Or something else entirely, perhaps?

It’s impossible to predict.
What I can tell you is that Thor 5 is a film that’s already proving divisive in concept for a number of reasons.
“So I guess we know Thor survives Doomsday/Secret Wars,” wrote Reddit user reddituser6213, echoing my personal reaction.
“The selling point here is no Taika,” added an upbeat fontainesmemory.

“Give me George Miller or give me death,” wrote BuzzardOaks, referencing the rumour that Miller may be in talks as the series’ new director.
I will add that it’s likely that we’re going to stay in the dark with regards to this one until Avengers: Doomsday arrives in December of 2026.
At that point, the direction in which the MCU is heading will likely become marginally clearer.
