Following the release of the official, full roster of heroes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Doomsday, the fan base doesn’t seem particularly impressed by the dozens of well-established heroes who seem to have been omitted.
Back when we were treated to a 20-hour-long live stream of some chairs by Disney back in March, we all pretty much had the same reaction once the stream came to a close: “Was that it?”
Now that some time has passed without any new announcements regarding the cast, the fans over on the r/marvelstudios subreddit seem particularly confused as to why certain specific members are supposedly not going to show up.

“Kind of crazy that Thor is the only remaining member of the original MCU Avengers showing up,” commented user hunter1547.
“I’m honestly more surprised that Dr Strange is absent,” replied user acarp25.
Now, certain omissions we can definitely explain. Doctor Strange, for instance, is reportedly going to have a third movie focusing on him that’s set to drop in between now and Avengers: Doomsday, so that’ll probably explain what he’s up to.
And now, following the delay of Avengers: Doomsday until 2027, the same thing can be said for Spider-Man, as his absence will likely be explained in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Then, there are other characters reappearing that are likely intended to be a surprise. For instance, I wouldn’t be shocked if Chris Evans pops up again as some kind of variant of Captain America.
Beyond that, however, I think Marvel is just saving some heroes for the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars.
We obviously have no idea what exactly is going to go down in Avengers: Doomsday, but I think we’ll probably be losing several heroes along the way. If it is as big of a wipeout as I’m assuming, it’ll be up to the remaining heroes who don’t pop up in Avengers: Doomsday to pick up the pieces in Avengers: Secret Wars.
