Avengers: Doomsday is already shaping up to be an epic cinematic experience, but when it comes to the rumours that Wolverine may be making an appearance, fans are quickly learning that it will not be in the way that they expect.
Due to hit cinemas on 18 December 2026, Avengers: Doomsday will mark both the first Avengers movie since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and also the first Avengers entry in Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Starring Robert Downey Jr. as the formidable Doctor Doom, he will be standing off against some iconic superheroes such as our brand-new Fantastic Four, Thor, and more.

As we saw earlier this year, the cast list is quite extensive but there are also rumours that we can expect a few surprise faces when the movie rolls around.
One of which includes Wolverine but according to a recent rumour by MyTimeToShineHello, it will not be Hugh Jackman donning the claws.
It will be Dafne Keen, otherwise known as Laura or X23, who will apparently be reprising her role as the younger Wolverine in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Keen first took on the role of Laura back in 2017’s Logan and was more recently seen in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, with her story just beginning, it seems as though Jackman’s Wolverine is ready to pass on the mantle. Or perhaps they will appear together?
The options are pretty endless in a world shaped by a Multiverse.
As for Keen, she has previously expressed interest in returning as Laura “even for just a tiny, silly cameo”.
"I've said this a trillion times, I would play Laura for the rest of my life, and I would be content. She's the most incredible character to play.”

It remains to be seen if Keen’s Wolverine will star in Avengers: Doomsday but with filming currently underway, it perhaps won’t be long until we find out.
