MCU fans got a little unexpected treat on social media as footage leaked from the set of Fantastic Four: First Steps to show off The Thing for the first time.

Recorded on a phone, the seven-second clip shows a latex mask being placed over the actor, probably Ebon Moss-Bachrach, but could have been a stand-in.

If you're hungry for more Marvel, your next taste comes from Sony with the last part in the Venom trilogy

In an interview with Variety when Moss-Bachrach was cast he mentioned that The Thing would be created via CGI, much like Thanos, so that mask we see is likely a stand-in for actors to play off of.

However, it gives us a brilliant look at what appears to be a comic book accurate recreation and we can get an idea of what The Thing will look like.

“Practical for reference, and then making it full CG. Best way to make a CG character to look good. And also those comic accurate eyebrows.” This Twitter comment knows what’s up.

Not only do we see the mask, but the traditional blue and white suit covers the bulk of the character, and fans are losing it.

One Twitter user said, “The thing looks awesome! I like the face sculpt and suit looks fire on him.”

Another reply conveyed plenty of excitement, “Comic accurate The Thing! LFG!!! This looks so good.”

While we don’t know a great deal about the plot of the film, we do know it’s set in a different time and place to the MCU timeline.

“Whoa they are cooking, why does this have to be set in a diff universe? It’s so good” said one Twitter comment, but most of us believe the Fantastic Four will step into the current MCU timeline at some point in the film.

Of course, there are plenty of fire emojis, hearts, and gifs from the older Fantastic Four films in celebration of this reveal.
