Last week saw Marvel actor Robert Downey Jr. celebrate his 60th birthday and eagle-eyed fans have noticed something interesting about his party invitations.

The Iron Man turned Doctor Doom actor celebrated the big birthday in style last week by inviting the rest of the Doomsday crew to a party, complete with some flashy invitations.

Check out the official cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday below!

Of course, the invitations paid tribute to his new Marvel character Doctor Doom who we will see in action for the first time with Avengers: Doomsday in May 2026.

At first glance, the invitation seemingly shows a variation of Doctor Doom, who will become the main antagonist in the next Avengers movie.

However, user captainjamesmarvell over on r/MCUTheories has noticed a few things upon closer inspection.

After looking at the figure of Doctor Doom for a while, this user noticed that his face is clearly disfigured, his hands and fingernails are charred and his torso is unarmoured.

“So yeah, I think RDJ gave us our first look at Doom with his armour off - and also with his armour on,” the user summarised.

“Looks pretty much perfect with the armour on and I'm not at all against this unarmored 'Darkman' look.”

It wasn’t long before more comments came flooding in, and user TaskMister2000 had some theories about how this look will be shown in Avengers: Doomsday.

“Yeah, I am 100% convinced this is his FIRST FORM,” they explained.

“This is what he will appear as to the Avengers in most of the film, manipulating and ticking them into thinking he's a good guy. Then by the end he's gonna reveal his true colours and don the more accurate armour and costume when he's about to go all out with the heroes from both universes.”

Some other users think this is just a coincidence and may not represent anything in the actual movie, which I'm inclined to agree with although it remains to be seen.

Either way, it has kept the excitement building for Avengers: Doomsday which hits cinemas on 1 May, 2026.
