Brie Larson is teasing a role in something big, and fans seem pretty certain she’s referring to a potential cameo as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Doomsday.

When the cast reveal for the next big Marvel Cinematic Universe hit Avengers: Doomsday dropped, there were several pretty huge names that were oddly absent from the chair-centric live stream.

One of the biggest omissions was Brie Larson, as surely a threat as big as Doctor Doom would necessitate a cameo from the strongest Avenger.

However, Disney has already announced that the entire line-up for the film has yet to be fully revealed, and fans think a recent post by Larson points to her finally coming on board.

Larson’s recent play, Elektra (no relation to the Marvel character), just wrapped up, and she revealed in a recent Instagram post that she already has a new project lined up.

“Now it's time for a new chapter,” Larson stated in her post, “more on that on Thursday.”

Thunderbolts* is out now, MCU fans.

While the majority of fans seem pretty certain this referring to some kind of extended, second cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday on Thursday, others on the r/marvelstudios subreddit aren’t entirely convinced that Larson even wants to return to the role.

“I love Brie and hope we get a lot more of her as Carol but my bet is this is a brand deal or something, not a Marvel thing,” commented user xrbeeelama.

“I wouldn't be surprised if she is mentally done with Marvel because 'a new chapter' surely wouldn't have anything to do with Marvel,” replied user Ghastion.

I can see this going either way, personally. I agree that the way Larson phrased it doesn’t necessarily imply that anything MCU-specific will be taking place on Thursday, but at the same time, I would be surprised if she’s not in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Here’s hoping she does return, though. I always loved her performance as Captain Marvel, even if Larson wasn’t always given the best scripts to work with.
