It looks like Marvel fans have inadvertently encountered a huge spoiler for the highly anticipated MCU movie, Avengers: Doomsday, currently scheduled to be released on 18 December 2026.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Phase Six with movies such as The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, and many Marvel fans will be hoping this is when the MCU gets back on track.

I think many Marvel fans would agree that MCU Phase Three was the best of the bunch so far, pumping out bangers such as Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

However, following the climactic conclusion to Phase Three, it was always going to be a tough act to follow. Sure, we did get the likes of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Deadpool and Wolverine, and Thunderbolts* in Phases Four and Five, but for the most part, it all felt a bit stuttery.

Will Phase Six be the revival that fans are hoping it will be? Only time will tell, but if rumours of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor returning are true, it might stand even more of a chance of getting the MCU back on track.

Entertainment insider, DanielRPK, claims to his Patreon supporters that Chris Hemsworth is returning with the fifth Thor movie, currently in development. He also claims that it will be part of the “MCU’s next saga”, which would see it launch in Phase Six or Seven.

Fans may also be pleased to know that it’s rumoured that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi will not be returning at the helm.

Anyone who has endured that movie will likely find this particular piece of information to be delightful news. Even Chris Hemsworth described Thor: Love and Thunder as “too cringe”.

However, as great as it is knowing that Chris Hemsworth is likely to return in Thor 5, by proxy, it has potentially revealed a massive spoiler. If Thor 5 is to be released from Phase Six onwards, it might be safe to assume that the God of Thunder won't be biting the dust anytime soon.

“So he doesnt die in Avengers: Doomsday/Avengers: Secret Wars,” said Redditor FirstV1.

“I guess we know Thor survives Doomsday and Secret Wars,” agreed reddituser6213.

“Looks like he’s not dying in Doomsday after all,” added blitzwar559. As you already guessed, this is pretty much the theme of the Reddit thread.

Marvel Phase Six officially begins with The Fantastic Four: First Steps on 25 July 2025 and ends with Avengers: Secret Wars on 17 December 2027.

Of course, it’s always worth taking unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. As soon as we learn any new information on Thor 5, we’ll be sure to let you know ASAP.
