With the X-Men reboot being in active development, it is no wonder that fans of the original movies are eager to see which actors will be taking on the iconic roles.

However, with Marvel Studios keeping information close to its chest, including both its cast and a release date, any information we do have has probably come courtesy of rumours or insider leaks.

Check out the final trailer for X-Men '97 below!

That is definitely the case when it comes to which actor may be taking on the role of villain Mister Sinister.

Alongside rumours that the X-Men reboot may star Hunter Schafer, Sadie Sink, Ayo Edebiri, Jack Champion, Harris Dickinson, and Cynthia Erivo, the most recent rumour hints at Javier Bardem taking on the role of Mister Sinister himself.

Best known for his appearances in Dune, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and Skyfall, Bardem is by no means a little-league actor and I could see him take on the villainous role with no issues.

This rumour comes courtesy of insider MyTimeToShineH but with any insider leak, this news is worth taking with a pinch of salt, especially considering a director has not even been attached to the X-Men reboot.

Marvel Studios has owned the rights to our favourite mutants for the past six years but seems in no rush to push out its first X-Men project.

However, in an interview last year, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige addressed the future of the franchise.

"I think you will see that continue in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men."

Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back."

With Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants not performing well at the Box Office, it is perhaps no wonder that Marvel Studios wants to take its time with the next X-Men movie.

However, fans remain forever eager to receive the smallest bit of information about the highly-anticipated sequel.
