The X-Men are still a long way off their MCU debut, but there’s still plenty for fans to get excited about.

Aside from the next few seasons of X-Men ‘97 and a potential sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine, the comic version of Marvel’s merry band of mutants is going through some big changes.

Check out the trailer for X-Men ‘97 by the way, it’s some of the best X-Men media out there.

A new comic series titled Exceptional X-Men is on the way, introducing a new team written by Eve L. Ewing with art from Carmen Carnero.

Your favourite heroes like Wolverine, Cyclops, Rogue and Gambit are unfortunately not featured on the roster, but that’s not a bad thing, since there are loads of mutants who are just as deserving of the spotlight.

The new team is being led by Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost, who will be mentoring the mutants Bronze, Axo, and Melee.

A trailer for the Exceptional X-Men series was recently shared by Marvel, and writer Eve L. Ewing gave a few words on what to expect from the spin-off.

Ewing said: “Well, those who know that I was a poet long before becoming a comics creator will appreciate that EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN, in a world full of X-adjectives, simply sounds really good. But right now, they are exceptional in that they don't carry a lot of the same history on their shoulders as the main characters in our other titles."

She continued, "For better or worse, they have no ties to Krakoa or broader team politics or the previous era of mutantdom. They're just a group of awkward kids in the Midwest trying to figure out their abilities, like generations of young mutants before them."

The first issue of the new X-Men series is available now, so pick it up if you want to learn more about this new team.
