Marvel unveils MCU's next R-rated projected after Deadpool & Wolverine success

Another one for the adults

I think it is safe to say that Marvel’s recent dive into the R-rated side of things has been a success so it is perhaps no wonder that it already has its next spicy project lined up.

This year has seen the normally family-friendly Marvel take a bit more risks by producing some R-rated television and film.

Check out the trailer for the original Daredevil series below!

From television show Echo which kicked off back in January to Deadpool & Wolverine which dominated the box office upon its release in July, it has been a successful transition for the studio.

With a large majority of its fan and viewerbase being adults, it is perhaps no wonder that these R-rated projects are so appreciated and it is why the news of the next project is a source of excitement in recent days.

Announced at Marvel Studios’ New York Comic-Con panel, the studio has confirmed that its next project will also be R-rated.

So what is it you may ask?

It will be Daredevil: Born Again which is set to release in March 2025 and will come alongside a TV-MA rating (the equivalent to R-rated).

Alongside Echo and the upcoming Marvel Zombies (although this has not yet been confirmed), Daredevil: Born Again will be the third Marvel series with this rating.

Not only that but, perhaps thanks to the recent success of Deadpool & Wolverine, the upcoming Blade movie will also have an R-rating.

If it is ever released, that is.

The news of Daredevil: Born Again’s rating recently hit r/marvelstudios and fans seem happy about this decision.

“This seems like a step in the right direction if they're trying to maintain the integrity and general vibe of the Netflix series!” One comment read.

“...I'm here for it though, give me a bloody hallway fight!”

Another said: “It’s always refreshing to see more R/TV-MA ratings because then you know you're likely in for a wild ride.”

It’s not long until we see just how visceral this highly-anticipated series will be but I agree, it is going to be a wild ride.
