It appears that a fan favourite Marvel character could be returning to the MCU after a tease by the actor.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a few exciting projects just around the corner. In July, we have The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and then there’s next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday.
With so many new films coming up, there’s also the opportunity to bring back some fan favourite characters from the past. It’s why we might possibly see an OG Avenger in the next Spider-Man, after all.

Now, actor Mike Colter has shared an image of Luke Cage to his Instagram page as a story post, igniting rumours that he could be in talks to return as the Defenders character.
In response to this, one user on Reddit posted a GIF of Hawkeye saying, “Don’t give me hope”.
“Homie is campaigning or knows something we don't know,” another wrote.
“Luke Cage with a proper MCU budget would go crazy,” wrote another fan. “I don’t think the average mainstream fan is even aware of how strong and durable Luke Cage is. Also he was a really valuable member of the Avengers in the comics and just generally is a great street level character who remembers the importance of community. I would love to see him back and get more use.”

Colter starred as Luke Cage in the eponymous series released by Netflix, as well as appearances in Jessica Jones and The Defenders.
His last appearance was in the third season of Jessica Jones, which aired in 2019.
Considering Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, it’s possible that Marvel could be using that show as a vehicle for eventually bringing back all the Defenders.
Still, there’s no confirmation from Marvel yet that this is the case. So, for now take this post with a pinch of salt and wait for it to be announced officially.
