When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it feels as if everybody wants a slice of the pie.

I shouldn’t think there’s a major actor in Hollywood who can’t get a meeting with Kevin Feige, should they want one.

After all, it’s surely in Marvel’s best interests to keep the doors open to the industry’s top talent.

There are still plenty of household names who have yet to appear in the MCU - although one more might soon be taking the plunge.

Any guesses? Meryl Streep.

ICYMI: Take a look at the brand new trailer for Thunderbolts* below. The film is set to launch in May 2025.

It was Agatha All Along’s casting director Sarah Halley Finn who let the cat out of the bag.

Finn said that Streep could play “anything she wants” in the MCU in an interview with Variety.

When pressed to see if Streep had been approached by Marvel, Finn added, “Maybe,” before confessing that there hadn’t been “the right role”.

Of course, Streep would make a fantastic addition to the MCU and yet fans responded to the news with humour.

Should we be surprised?

“At [five foot, six inches]’, she’s a bit tall for a comic accurate Wolverine, but I think she can pull it off,” said LettuceC.

“A better version of Madame Web? I could see it,” added trentjpruitt97.

“Mephisto confirmed,” joked Mister_Green2021.

Other suggestions included Ghost Rider, Nighthawk, Emma Frost, and … Groot 2.0? Oh you are a silly lot.

Just because Marvel has seemingly spoken to Streep, it doesn’t necessarily mean that something will work out.

The right role, as Finn said, hasn’t surfaced yet but it might never surface.

I hope I’m wrong though. How great would it be to see a potential Streep character cross paths with Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross? Two onscreen legends.
