If you’re a fan of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU it seems like there’s going to be plenty of the charismatic actor to go around in the coming years,

Robert Downey Jr. became one of the MCU’s biggest stars with the launch of Iron Man in 2008 and one of the leading members of Marvel’s Avengers to go to war with the mad titan known as Thanos.

Check out the Avengers: Endgame trailer below!

Just a heads up, I am about to go into spoilers for Avengers: Endgame in 2019 which pulled at the heartstrings of fans for multiple reasons. Now, we’re looking to the future and what we know so far is that Doctor Doom and Galactus are two of the big bad villains that the new Avengers will have to contend with following the demise of Thanos.

However, a spanner was thrown into the hearts of all our emotions when Robert Downey Jr. was announced to be returning to the MCU but not as Iron Man but as Fantastic Four villain, Doctor Doom.

We’re not sure how this version of Doctor Doom will be portrayed in the MCU, especially with the former Iron Man actor now donning a new iron mask but I’m pretty sure there will be multiverse shenanigans involved.

That being said, as reported by The Direct, it seems that Robert Downey Jr. isn't quite done with the Iron Man character just yet. One such role is at the Disneyland Resorts theme park ride, Avengers: Infinity Defense coming to the Avengers Campus which will see visitors battle against a multiverse Thanos variant.

The ride will also take visitors to Wakanda where they’ll encounter Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits from Avengers: Endgame as well as going to other locations such as Asgard and the Battle of New York from the 2012 movie.

Avengers: Infinity Defense will have many MCU variants, some from timelines that never existed in the movies, one of which is where Thanos’ snap never happened and Tony Stark’s Iron Man continued to exist.

What’s more, there will also be another new MCU ride on the way called Stark Flight Lab which will simulate being in the Iron Man suit and will again see Robert Downey Jr. return.

As for the main MCU, we know that Robert Downey Jr. will return in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday but there could be a chance that his return is teased in Fantastic Four: First Steps, currently scheduled to be released on 25 July 2025.
