Marvel fans torn over 'new face of the MCU' ahead of Avengers: Doomsday

I'm here for it

Avengers: Doomsday is set to begin filming very soon and it’s with that in mind that I have one piece of advice for you: prepare for a few misdirects.

Marvel Studios is not going to want anything from the film to leak, and so I have no doubt they’ll take drastic measures.

I wouldn’t be surprised if paparazzi were lured into capturing images of the filming of fake scenes which, of course, we wouldn’t know to be fake.

And I also imagine that the film’s cast have been vetted both on what to say and what not to say.

This leads me nicely onto my theory that Elizabeth Olsen may have been told to totally deny her involvement, which is exactly what she recently told The Hollywood Reporter.

Olsen claims not to be a part of Doomsday nor Secret Wars, but insiders are saying otherwise.

Thunderbolts* is the next film in line for the MCU.

In response to one Twitter user referring to Scarlet Witch, Olsen’s character, as the “new face of the MCU”, leaker MyTimeToShineH had something very interesting to say.

“Marvel Studios is aware of this, [it’s] why they are making three spin-offs to her show plus a Scarlet Witch movie and [giving] her a major role in the Avengers movies,” they wrote.

That would include Doomsday and Secret Wars, right?

You can’t have the so-called “new face of the MCU” missing the MCU’s biggest cinematic event.

Of course, this is all to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Personally, I’d love for Olsen’s Scarlet Witch to head up the MCU; she was brilliant in Wandavision and while I don’t love the events of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen delivered a fantastic performance.

To my surprise though, fans are split on the idea.

“She is Marvel’s IT girl,” wrote Twitter user CovenofChaoss.

“Why is that, though? I don't get it. Yes, we all love Wanda, but she isn't the only character. Hell, she isn't even a main Avenger or main X-Man,” countered ForbiddenArms.

After browsing a ton of comments, however, I can safely say there are far more Wanda supporters than naysayers.

Let’s just hope our girl now actually surfaces.
