Fans want Star Wars actor John Boyega to play Kang The Conqueror in the MCU, but he’s having none of it.

Recent reports confirmed that film and TV star Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assault, and will no longer play the supervillain Kang The Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree aggravated assault after a confrontation with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbiri. Majors was reportedly sending romantic text messages to an unknown person and became violent when Jabbiri attempted to take the phone off him, striking her head and twisting her arm.

His swift departure from future MCU projects has potentially ruined the overall storyline of the franchises’ current phase, as the upcoming Avengers film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has reportedly been renamed to Avengers 5 internally, suggesting a pivot from Kang as the leading villain.

Fans don’t want Marvel to give up on Kang though, believing his story has been incredibly interesting so far, and could easily continue with a simple recast. While there are plenty of potential faces to choose from, the current fan pick is John Boyega, best known for his role as Finn in the latest Star Wars trilogy.

However, Boyega has subtly indicated that he has no interest in taking over the role of Kang, nor any role in the MCU, following a reaction to someone suggesting he step forward for the role.

Culture Crave shared the response on Twitter, which showed a fan asking him directly to speak with Marvel about playing the multiversal villain. Boyega simply replied with a GIF of Donkey from Shrek shaking his head, and it’s unlikely he’ll change his mind anytime soon.

Marvel is going to have to think of something fast though, whether it be finding a replacement for Majors or shifting focus to a new Avengers-level threat like Doctor Doom or Galactus.
