The new Deadpool & Wolverine movie may have featured some incredible cameos but one star-studded appearance has left fans with more questions than answers.

Released back in July, Deadpool & Wolverine is the latest Marvel blockbuster to find itself at the top of the box office charts.

However, it is perhaps no surprise considering Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman found their titular roles joined by a star-studded cast.

This ranged from cameos from Dafne Keen, Chris Evans, Blake Lively, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner and Wesley Snipes to name a few.

However, it was a cameo by a much-loved Marvel actor that has fans talking, especially as his appearance caused quite a bit of confusion.

That’s right, Deadpool & Wolverine saw Chris Hemsworth appear as Thor and despite a brief cameo, he left quite the impression.

The scene which is shown as part of a montage in the TVA monitor shows the God of Thunder himself cradling a dying Deadpool and tears are streaming down his face.

Used over repurposed footage taken from Thor: The Dark World, but this time with Wade in the place of Loki, Deadpool asks "What is that? Is that Thor? Why is Thor crying?"

However, he is left with no answers and it seems as though both Hemsworth and director Shawn Levy are also none-the-wiser as to why he seems so emotional.

In an interview with Black Girl Nerds, Hemsworth was asked why Thor was crying in his Deadpool & Wolverine cameo.

"[laughs] I'm asking the same question," the actor said. "You'll have to keep your focus on the Marvel Universe cause there will be an answer. It will be told one day."

However, according to Levy, he still doesn’t have all the answers.

"I have to be honest with you, we really set out to make a movie that was not a setup for another movie or a sequel to anything.

Kevin [Feige] never insisted that we service some story beyond," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"I've been asked, for instance, why is Thor crying. The answer being: I don't f---ing know. No one does, but I'd sure love to be the guy who helps find out why."
