If you’re waiting on new information about the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, one star has confirmed a pretty big detail about the show’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The MCU is a treasure trove for continuity lovers. After dozens of movies and TV shows, Marvel has carefully crafted a whole universe of characters, locations, and events that have to fit together perfectly.

After originally being cancelled by Netflix, Daredevil is coming back in 2025 developed for Disney Plus. So, the question of where within the MCU the show fits has come up often.

Here's a look at what's coming up for Marvel Studios.

Fortunately, Daredevil: Born Again star Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye, has explained it during a panel at Fan Expo San Francisco. He has detailed the show’s place among other shows in the same universe.

Bethel has explained that Daredevil: Born Again takes place five years after the show ended. Since the original Daredevil run ended the story sometime in 2017-2018, meaning the show takes place around 2022-2023.

Bethel explains that this jump allows him to develop the character [via Collider]: “These are characters who have all lived five years of life and all of the twists and turns that you take in the meantime.”

“So whether or not even those stories are necessarily on screen, there's just that little extra bit of life in there, which I think is… as an actor, it gives you an opportunity to bring whatever your own journey has been in that time and they get sort of a little longer in the tooth.”

Marvel continuity experts will know the franchise is currently ahead of us by a few years as a result of the five-year time skip that occurred in Avengers: Endgame.

The current MCU takes place around 2026, with Daredevil characters like Matt and Fisk making short appearances in several projects set around then.

This means, for example, that Matt’s appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk possibly take place after Daredevil: Born Again.

This all sounds a bit wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey. Hopefully when the show launches on Disney Plus we’ll get a solid confirmation about Daredevil’s exact place in the timeline.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney Plus on 4th March, 2025.
