We all remember the day that we were forced to look at the back of some chairs for five hours in order to find out which actors would be suiting up to star in Avengers: Doomsday next year.

This will mark the first Avengers movie since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and thanks to a reshuffle of cast and characters, we were unsure which actors would be returning.

Check out the big cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday below!

In March, Marvel announced the 26 cast members who would be starring in Avengers: Doomsday and one of them was Simu Liu who will be reprising his role as Shang-Chi.

He first took on the role back in 2021 with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings but with the movie not hitting huge numbers at the box office, it was unsure if he would be returning in the future of the MCU.

However, we now know that he will return but it appears that Liu himself had no idea about it until everybody else did too.

Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Liu spoke more about his upcoming role in Doomsday and when he received the news.

"I knew I was going to be involved in it to some capacity,” he explained, “but I didn't know who else they were announcing. They don't tell us anything. Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo ruined it for all of us. Now, they don't tell us.”

He is, of course, referring to both Holland and Ruffalo being well-known for accidentally leaking confidential news about upcoming Marvel titles.

However, Liu was soon distracted when he discovered that Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart would also be starring alongside him.

“I saw when Sir Ian and Sir Patrick were announced. These are two of the greatest actors to have ever walked the face of the Earth. That blew my mind a little bit,” he revealed.

Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is expected to begin this summer and the Shang-Chi actor is excited to get stuck in.

“We're so excited to get to work and it's obviously going to be such an amazing, big movie that's going to be so secretive that I can't talk about it at all.”

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in cinemas on 1 May, 2026.
