Avengers: Doomsday cliffhanger has fans terrified: 'no one is safe'

"People are not ready for what’s to come"

Uh, it’s rare I have to say something like this right at the start of an article, but… I think one of the main cast members of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Doomsday sort of just spoiled how the film ends?

So, proceed at your own peril, because if this wasn’t just a poor choice of words, this article will potentially contain huge spoilers for Disney’s next billion-dollar film.

Anthony Mackie recently sat down with Collider’s Michael Zimmerman, and when asked about Avengers: Doomsday’s comparisons to Avengers: Infinity War, he had this to say regarding the upcoming film’s “cliffhanger” ending.

“You know what? I was really excited, man,” Mackie told Collider.

“It’s one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting.”

Uh, ok, maybe he was just talking about the cliffhanger at the end of Avengers: Infinity War? Oh, nevermind, he kept going.

“You see these characters, and you see how they’re introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe,” Mackie continued.

“Everyone is expendable.”

Alright, cool, everyone is gonna die at the end of Avengers: Doomsday, I guess? Sweet. I’m in.

Over on the r/marvelstudios subreddit, everyone is (surprisingly) extremely excited about watching every character in the MCU die a horrible, painful death.

“People are not ready for what’s to come. Avengers will die, planets will explode, and millions will perish,” commented user TipNo750.

“This is when Marvel starts getting metal and actually push their heroes into morally uncomfortable situations. Deciding whether to save your own reality or destroy another timeline will be a lot.”

“This is the golden opportunity to reset. You can't keep bringing in actors pushing fifty-sixty, replied user Elementium.

“You can't keep leaving threads hanging till people forget them. Just do it. Doom wins, battle world, Doom loses new God-King forges a new reality. Boom start from scratch.”

I’m on board with this. I do think the MCU has gotten a little bloated lately, so a soft reset of sorts could do it a lot of good.

I just hope they don’t kill off everyone. Leave my boy Wong out of this.
