The Marvel Cinematic Universe is still waiting for Blade to show up, something that’s becoming a common occurrence these days for some reason…

In case you missed it or don’t play the game Blade has been spotted several times in Marvel Rivals despite not being a playable character yet, first he was found as a prisoner in Dracula’s home and more recently he’s been found napping on the Wakanda map…

The roster for Marvel Rivals continues to expand, so we’ll get Blade as a new Duelist eventually

I digress though, as MCU fans are also waiting for Blade to make his debut, or more specifically the new Blade being played by Mahershala Ali.

Wesley Snipes’ portrayal of the character returned for Deadpool And Wolverine, with the line “there’s only one Blade, there’s only ever going to be one Blade” which is sounding more and more accurate.

While the Blade film is still stuck in limbo we have had our first-look at the character thanks to artwork from Marvel’s What-If?.. Season 3.

Artist for the show Justin Kim made a post that read: “For my final What if...? post, I had the privilege of designing Blade as Moon Knight.”

While this variant of the character didn’t actually appear in the series, it’s said he will be a character in the upcoming Marvel Zombies series instead.

Responses were mixed, like one fan who said “Wow. This is awesome. I'm a bit disappointed that this wasn't brought into the What If? universe.”

Another said “This looks horrible...keep Blade the way he needs to look in all black....leather outfit...kickass look not this one.”

Personally I think he looks great, and given how both characters are pretty supernatural the mash-up makes a lot of sense.

The humour shouldn’t be lost though that the first time we’ll see Mahershala Ali as Blade will be an animated series rather than the actual film.
