The Amazing Spider-Man 3 writer unveils plot, and now we're sad it didn't happen

The writer for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has shared some of the plot details online, and it sounds wild.

Andrew Garfield’s run as the spectacular Spider-Man ended abruptly with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a flop of a film that was criticised for having too many villains, and a lacklustre story.

Speaking of Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out tomorrow, check it out below!

Future Sony Spider-Man projects were then cancelled, leading to Disney’s version of the wall-crawler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a surprising turn of events though, Andrew Garfield, alongside Tobey Maguire, got to put on the skintight Spidey suits once again for the multiversal adventure in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fans praised Garfield’s return, leading to calls to give him a third Spider-Man film and round-off the trilogy. Unlikely, but we can dream.

Now though, details on what The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could have been about have leaked online, and the brief snippets shared sound absolutely bonkers.

In a new book called MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, there’s a page about Andrew Garfield’s third film, stating that an in-progress script was cobbled together, and would see Spider-Man face off against The Sinister Six.

An excerpt from the book reads: “The goal was to have all of these villains team up for a Sinister Six film. The studio even had screenwriter Drew Goddard work up a draft. By the end of 2014, [Drew Goddard] had a draft that took Spider-Man and his villains to the Savage Land…Where Spider-Man would ride a T-Rex.”

It’s said Spider-Man would have travelled to other parts of the world outside New York, and there’d even be brief time-travel elements, which explains why he’d be riding a T-Rex.

The Sinister Six line-up would have consisted of Vulture, Sandman, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Black Cat, and potentially Spidey himself following his grief and rage after the death of Gwen Stacey.

Honestly it sounds kind of weird, and likely would have caused even more upset following the negative reception to the first two Amazing Spider-Man films, though it’d still be nice to see Garfield get his third film at some point in the future.
